What Image are you casting?

Years ago I learned while reading Stephen Coveys Seven habits of highly effective people, what he referenced as spheres of influence. Each person has a center or core group that they share the most intimate of their thoughts and life. There is also a group where they only share parts of themselves. Lastly, a far outer ring this is where those that are affected by who you are in how you live and carry yourself.

We were asked a few Sundays ago, to begin to think about what’s your one step?  How are you going to begin to share Christ with others? Recently, David Platt, introduced “Radical” in it he is asking us to live radically for Christ. Now, I’ve just finished teaching a 8 week course in Sunday school on John Pipers “Desiring God” living the life of a Christian hedonist it asks us to not just believe in Jesus, but to treasure Him more than anything even life itself. Jesus tells us “Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it”, also “whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.”

When we read the creation account God says let us make man in our image, prior to the fall the image of man was a pure and untarnished reflection of the Creator himself realized in the flesh of mankind. Sin ruined it. Through Christ God calls us back to Him reconciling us so that the image we should cast will be the beauty He intended that is Him. Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. What image are you casting? What fragrant aroma radiates from your being? Every moment of each day God has a life lesson for us, ask yourself Lord what would you have me learn from this and how can I glorify you because of it?
